Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Umesh Sensei Online Academy ("we", "us") collects and how we use it, across our website at umeshsensei.com and our official Umesh Sensei Android app. We collect only what we need to run the academy and track your learning, and this policy describes exactly that.

1. Information We Collect

• Account details: your name, username, and email address, which you provide when you register. You may also add your date of birth and country/region. Please note that your name, date of birth, and country are printed on your mock-test marksheet (result certificate), so please enter them accurately.
• Sign-in information: you can sign in either with an email address and password, or with Google Sign-In. When you use Google Sign-In we receive your email address and your Google account ID from Google, and use them only to identify your account. We never receive your Google password.
• Learning and study data: to show your progress we record your study time, your course and lesson progress, and your mock-test results and scores.
• Profile photo (optional): if you choose to upload a profile photo, it is stored on our server. You are never required to provide one.
• Notifications: to send you push notifications (for example, when a new lesson is published), we store a notification token for your device. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
• Handwriting notes (on your device only): notes you write inside the app are saved locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us and we never see or store them.
• Downloaded content for offline use (on your device only): lesson PDFs and audio you open may be cached on your device so you can use them offline. This cache stays on your device and is not sent to us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only to:

• provide the academy's courses, mock tests, flashcards, and other learning materials;
• track your study progress and show it back to you;
• generate your mock-test marksheet;
• sign you in and keep your account secure; and
• send you notifications about your learning.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Payments

All payments and course purchases happen on our website (umeshsensei.com). The Android app has no in-app purchases and never collects payment-card or billing information. When a purchase is made on the website, we keep a record of that payment for our accounting.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your account details, study data, mock-test results, and any profile photo are stored on our own server at umeshsensei.com. Your handwriting notes and your offline cache (downloaded PDFs and audio) are stored only on your own device and are never uploaded to us.

5. Third-Party Services

We keep third-party services to a minimum:

• Google Sign-In is used only to sign you in, as described in Section 1.
• Google Play Services / Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver push notifications to the app.

Your username and mock-test or game scores may be shown publicly on our in-app and website leaderboards. No other personal details are shown there.

6. Deleting Your Account & Data (Your Rights)

You are in full control of your data and can delete your account at any time:

• In the app: open Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and your personal study data from our servers, and clears your locally stored notes and cached content from your device.
• On the web: use our Delete Account page to request deletion without signing in.
• By email: if you prefer, you can request deletion by emailing us at umeshsensei@gmail.com and we will process it promptly.

What is permanently deleted: your profile and sign-in details (name, username, email, profile photo, date of birth); your study time and learning progress; your course, lesson, flashcard, grammar and kanji progress; your enrollments, access and goals; your notifications; your homework submissions and any photos you uploaded; any CV data; and the notes and downloaded content stored on your own device.

What is anonymized and kept: for legal, accounting and fairness reasons a small number of records must survive the account. These are unlinked from your identity and remain only as “[deleted user]”: a record of past payments, the record that a mock-test certificate was issued (and the result it was based on), and content you posted that other students can see — comments, ratings and feedback.

7. Children's Privacy

Our academy is intended for language learners and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
